Abstract |
Fibers are increasingly being used for the reinforcement of cementitious matrix to enhance the toughness and energy absorption capacity and to reduce the cracking sensitivity of the matrix. In this paper, composite properties of cement-based composites (CBCs) reinforced with polythylene terephthalate have been investigated by conforming to Korean Standard (KS). CBCs contains the polyethylene terephthalate(PET), polyethylene (PE), and polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) fiber. As the result of the compressive strength tests, it was found that the cement composite with hybrid fibers, PE and PVA, showed enhanced compressive performance compared with that with simple PET fibers. In addition, it is found that the cement composite with fiber having the aspect ratio of 300 can control well the opening of the crack widths because of bridging action. |
