Abstract |
The purpose of this study is to provide fundamental data for Characteristics of the location and the architectural application of the hospice and palliative facilities as social facilities through analyzing 12 cases of Berlin hospice and palliative facilities. Due to the change of the recognition of human life, the values and the perception of death are changed, which is a natural part of life. Recently, the increase of cancer, AIDS and other chronic diseases cause drastic increase of mortality rate. The Interest of hospice and palliative services are growing as many terminal patients interested in quality of life in normal social environment during their end of life period. However, despite the need there is not many architectural researches on the hospice and palliative facilities for the patients and their families. This study focuses on the Berlin hospice and palliative facilities in Germay, which have developed as the social facilities. |
