Abstract The purpose of this paper is to establish urban regeneration guideline based on the concept of growth management. For this, I drew basic urban regeneration strategies and elements using literature survey, questionnaire, focus group interview first. After this, I set up urban regeneration guidelines, and studied their applicability to city as a sustainable urban regeneration model finally. As final outcome of this study, I proposed growth management-typed urban regeneration guideline consisted of three major sector such as macro-aspect, micro-aspect, and action/management-aspect. Macro-aspect has 4 strategies, 13 elements, and 51 guidelines, whereas micro-aspect involves 4 strategies, 16 elements, and 54 guidelines. Action/management-aspect is consisted of 3 strategies, 9 elements, and 27 guidelines. The guideline can be flexibly applied to large city or medium/small city according to the characteristics of relevant city. This guideline will greatly help various urban regeneration participants containing administration, business company, neighborhood, professional make our urban cores more livable and sustainable. Furthermore the guideline can be utilized in each urban regeneration stage including policy/plan making, action, management, and monitoring step.
