Abstract The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effect of bake-out conditions on bake-out result and indoor air quality of apartments. Bake-out tests were carried out at 2 apartment complexes at different conditions of temperature, bake-out duration, ventilation. The tests with different bake-out durations was performed at 3 units of apartment complex A which is located in northern part of Kyunggi-province. The other tests for evaluating the effect of bake-out condition on temperature and ventilation on indoor air quality was performed at 6 units of the apartment complex B which is located in western part of Kyunggi-province. The method of sampling and analysis of indoor air quality before and after bake-out was in compliance with the standard test method of indoor air quality for apartments by government. The result of bake-out tests shows that air pollution was decreased after bake-out in general. It was found that when bake-out duration was practiced for 7 days at different bake-out duration tests the decrements of air pollutants were the highest. It could not be said that temperature as a bake-out condition is proportional to the decrement of pollutants. When the unit is well ventilated(conditions of fan and window) during bake-out, bake-out was effective but the result of formaldehyde was not.
