Abstract University library is playing a central role in the university campus as a place for supporting various study activities conducted by professors and students, and for providing local cultural facility to the local citizen. The purpose of the research is to evaluate the application of universal design principles in the national university libraries in Busan. Observation and literature review were used for the study. The results of the study were that, first, the percentage of the universal design application was low because above half percent(average 52.3%) of the universal design checklist is suitable. Second, sample libraries do not have various educational environments for different age and people of every class, which are basic principles for the universal design. The conclusion is that the environments everyone can use should be based on the university libraries. The rules for applying the universal design principles are needed, and universal design principles should be considered in the planning stage of the construction of the library, and the education of the universal design for architects and managers on the library is needed.
