Abstract The purpose of this Study is to provide the basic data for architectural planning of the public archives through analysis of the spatial composition (facility program, area ratio, space zoning, circulation system). This study suggests an outcome as follows. 1st, The facility program of the archives is composed with four kind functional area ; preservation area, administration area, reading & exhibition area, common area ; and this is subdivide like [table 6]. And the facility program of archives should be determined by analysis the amount and type of records, size of the building, facility management plan. 2nd, according to mixed use type of facility is visible clear difference from the area ratio of preservation area and reading & exhibition area. Also this research make a suggestion about area ratio of archives facility as follows ; preservation area : 40%, Administration area : 15%, reading & exhibition area : 25%, common area : 20%. 3rd, Like a [Figure 7], the spatial composition of the preservation area must consider records preservation & reprography process. 4th, [Figure 8] is the diagram which synthesizes a research result about the spatial composition of archives facility.
