Abstract The purpose of this study is to find out the architectural planning element to revitalize the city by using cultural facilities through the case study of the regenerated cities which were using cultural facilities to understand the method of these composition. The city with a lot of cultural resources is in a better position to make the cultural images, so it promote strengthening and improvement strategy with making the new cultural facilities that can be the hub of the city. In these cities, the organizational types of cultural facilities in urban area are dispersed and linear type. It can improve the efficiency by organic connection with the new cultural facilities and historical culture resources for practical use. Also, it is important that citizen's affirmative recognition to the cultural heritage and cultural industry. And the city with few historical culture resources creates new cultural images and revitalizes itself by importing cultural facilities that can be the landmark of the city. In these cities, the organizational types of cultural facilities in urban area are the central and connectional type and it is so efficient for new born cultural cities to make new image. It has a merit to make tangible achievement in short period than dispersed and linear type. And it can revitalize the whole city by considering not only strengthening the specific region but also the connection of existing downtown.
