Abstract |
The bond characteristics of reinforcing bar is an important issue in the design of reinforced concrete structures. This study focuses on the bond characteristics of deformed bar and carbon fiber reinforced polymer bars (CFRP) in concrete through pull-out test. The tests were performed to examine the bond strengths of selected CFRP rebars with various embedded lengths and diameters of the rebars. To compare with bond strength of deformed steel bar, φ10mm CFRP rebar was tested. Thirty 200mm×200mm×200mm cubic specimens with concrete compressive strength of 35 MPa were made for this study. The test results include the bond stress?slip response and the mode of failure and indicate that the bond strength was increased as the diameter of the rebar and embedded length were increased while the bond stress decreased as the diameter of the rebar increases. Also, it showed that the bond strength of a CFRP rebar was approximately 64% that of a steel rebar. |
