Abstract Asbestos has excellent tensile tolerance and flexibility, and was once called a miracle mineral due to its diverse features such as its noncombustible nature, hard face insulation, and inexpensive price. Also, there was asbestos contained in ceiling materials which are mainly used as insulating materials, lagging materials and roof material(slate). Because many existing buildings containing asbestos have becomes superannuated, the rate of buildings containing asbestos being dismantled expected to increased. Therefore, it is imperative that we understand how much asbestos is in buildings for its efficient disposal. In this study, the materials containing asbestos in school buildings were investigated and the quantities of asbestos to were analyzed characterize the use of asbestos in primary school buildings.
