Abstract |
In this study, a method for large deformation(rotation) and small rotational strain analysis of space frame is presented, The method is based on an eulerian formulation, which takes into consideration the effects of large joint translations and rotations with finite rotation. And the derived geometric stiffness matrix is unsymmetric because of the fact that finite rotations are not commutative under addition. Local member force-deformation relationships are based on the beam-column approach, and modified some approximate formulation. The change in member chord lengths caused by axial strain and flexural bowing are taken into account. The arc length approach is applied to trace the post-buckling range of elastic and elastic-plastic problems. Next, some results of numerical example for nonlinear buckling analysis are carried out with proposed space frame formulations to demonstrate the potential of the developed method in the accurate and efficient nonlinear analysis of space frames. |
