Abstract |
This study aims at examining the current status of specialized streets among ongoing projects to create city brand value and identifying features for sensibility evaluation in order to provide basic data to be used for planning of specialized streets.
This study selected furniture streets, oriental medicine streets, and fashion streets in cities of Seoul and Deajeon to examine their problems and pursuing images. Variables of each evaluation target were found through factor analysis of current status of the selected streets. The variables were used for factor analysis and HAYASI Ⅰ Program of computer simulation tests to examine how much the factors influence in creating the images that each street pursues. The result of the study indicated that terraces, straight sidewalks, curved streetlights, arrangement of trees and plants in both sides and center, and benches in both sides of a street are needed to create an ?well-organized?, ?comfortable? image of furniture streets. Oriental medicine streets are predicted to need arrangement of awning, straight sidewalks, curved streetlights, trees and plants in both sides and center, and benches in both sides and center of a street to create a ?stable?,? intimate? image. Fashion streets need to arrange banners, curved sidewalks, curved streetlights, trees and plants in both sides and center, and benches in both sides of a street to create an ?active?, ?luxurious? image. The study results indicated some useful design directions of environmental design elements to create images that each specialized street pursues. |
