Abstract According to structural type of a building, construction load can be different because construction method and collateral condition corresponding to each structural type is different. Generally, construction load of design code is based on the research result on construction of flat plate building structures. Therefore, this design code for construction load may be inappropriate for construction of wall type building structures. In this paper, through field instrumentation on a wall type building structure, construction load was investigated and the behavior under construction was analyzed. According to the result of field instrumentation, construction load of the wall type building structure was lower than specified load by design code. However, unexpected additional load because of temperature changes and storage of steel bars occurred and it can be larger than specified construction load by design code. Therefore, this unexpected additional load should be considered reasonably to assure safety of construction and restrict cracks on the slab under construction.
