Abstract In this paper, period of mild freezing and frost action in cold weather concreting prescribed by Japanese architectural standard specification(JASS) with each region of Korea is discussed to provide cost effective curing method. Climate data from 1970~2000 in Korea meteorological administration are used to calculate the period and 66 cities in Korea was adopted for this study. Period for mild freezing is calculated around 20~70 days. As the altitude goes lower and close to coastal area, the period for mild freezing is increased. For the period of frost action, it is calculated around 20~110. It is shown that Chollanam-do and Kyeongsnagnam-do have longer period for mild freezing than for frost action period. Benefit at the period of mild freezing is the application of cost-effective curing method including heat insulation curing. To gain economical profit, it is necessary to create the regulation of mild freezing period in cold weather concrete for Korean Architectural Standard specification.
