Abstract |
This study analyzes the architectural accessibility considering the handicapped, whose objects are 105 medical institutions located in Suncheon-city, Jeollanamdo province. The range of this survey is from sidewalk before the entrance of the building to exit of the medical institution. The survey items are widely divided into three parts which are intermediate space(sidewalk and access road, parking lot), outdoor space(entrance area, ramp and entrance door) and indoor space(corridor and pathway, indoor stairs, elevator and the door of an examination room). The base of this survey on architectural accessibility is set up according to the regulations based on the code of convenience facility improvement. The result of this survey clearly shows that there are lots of obstacles on the way to medical institutions. There are quite a few pedestrian obstacles specially on sidewalks and access roads. Also some problems were found out such as a building has a door sill and wheelchair passing is impossible since there's no elevator in the building which is taller than second-story. Besides, those results are seen remarkably in clinics and old towns compared to hospitals and new towns. |
