Abstract The purpose of this study was to examine the design types and preferences about component elements of detached house gates in Daegu from the 1970s on wards. A detached house is composed of a residential space and an outdoor space. and It is partitioned off into personal space by a wall and a gate. The front gate is very important element of the a lot the component in a detached house entrance part and propensity of resident. In this study, design types of detached house gates are classed as a roof, a post, a union between the a door and a post, a door. These four types act to divide the roof into a flat and tiled section, the union between the door and post into a door location and materials, the post into bricks, tiles, granite and a living rock, a door into an iron plate, an iron pipe, stainless steel, cast-iron and wood. The results of the current research measure preference of the architectural design types using a question interview: It was found that the participants prefer the side of a design to following a change of the time about a roof and a post, materials to form about union between the door and post. They also prefer the latest design to the design of the 1970s.
