Abstract |
This study aims to propose a standard model of sustainable schools. Field measurements and surveys were conducted to evaluate indoor environmental elements such as thermal, visual, acoustic comfort and indoor air quality of schools in Seoul, Kyeonggi and Jeju. Additionally, environmental elements were also investigated and analysed through teachers’ questionnaires. The results of this study can be summarized as follows; According to field measurements for 52 schools, the CO2, PM10 and noise were higher than each standard. To reduce the concentration of pollutants, an effective ventilation device is required. Also to make comfortable environment of classrooms, it is necessary to improve daylighting and environmental friendly elements of school. The environment-friendly elements were suggested such as waste recycling bins, water conserving fixtures, experiential farm, high efficiency appliances and equipment, lighting sensor, automatic control. The results of this study will be used as basic data for the standard model of environment-friendly education facilities. |
