Abstract This study sought to classify and present the component-specific window’s insulation performance values drawn using the test method officially recognized as Korea’s window performance evaluation method and produced a forecast formula that can forecast insulation performance according to each component change in the process. Toward this end, windows were categorized according to the frame material, opening and closing types by frame material, glass composition, respective ratio of glass and frame to the entire area of a window, and frame width as the main categorization factors of a window based on the evaluation data on window insulation performance as drawn by A institution for 6 years from 2002 to 2008. Based on each factor, a forecast formula was drawn by performing a multiple regression analysis. The findings in this study are presented below. Concerning the window’s material-specific opening and closing types, the highest values were noted in the 2-track sliding type with 51% in the case of plastic frame and the curtain wall type with 36% for the aluminum frame. Glass composition was found to have the biggest influence on the forecast formula in all frame materials and opening and closing types. The error of insulation performance through actual measurement and forecast formula was about 5%, although there was some difference depending on the opening and closing types and glass composition.
