Abstract The purpose of this paper is to understand the compressive characteristics of the stiffened steel plate concrete(SSC) structures with the variation of the compressive strength for concrete, and to examine the confine effect of concrete due to the restraint effect of the steel plates supported by rib and stud. The experimental factors of this paper are the compressive strength of concrete and stud width ratio(). This paper proved that the ductility capacity decreased with the increase of the compressive strength for concrete, and the buckling strength of the steel plate increased with the decrease of the stud width ratio(). Therefore, both compressive strength and ductility capacity of the specimen increased by the cause of the confine effect of the steel plates.
