Abstract The mold that grow in buildings are the ones that find congenial conditions and which do not require specific host plant extracts or nutrients. So mold growth in buildings has been identified as the main cause of Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) problems. Although earlier research works have shown that indoor mold growth is likely to occur when a combination of relatively high humidity and temperature on building material surfaces constitutes favorable conditions for mold germination (or mold growth rate), more information regarding nutrient in the materials is required to understand mold phenomenon and to analyse the mold growth risks in buildings accurately. So, this paper studies the response of building materials, especially wallpapers, to the mold growth at different environmental conditions.
