Abstract Indoor air quality is a major issue of building performance, because indoor air pollution causes sick house syndromes involved in physical and/or psychological problems. Photocatalyst gets special attentions by the researchers in architectural community as an effective agent to relive these syndromes. There are several methods which is effective either to upgrade the capacity or to improve activity of it. The methods are as follows; (1) Increasing the surface area of the agent by dividing the particle, (2) Increasing the ratio of TiO2 anatase against that of TiO2 rutile, and (3) Reducing a defect of crystallization by stabilizing a form of crystallization (i.e., Thermal treatment, Hydrothermal treatment and Metal doping, etc). This paper presents the results obtained by applying Thermal treatment and Hydrothermal treatment with KA-100. In terms of production cost, Thermal treatment and Hydrothermal treatment is superior to Metal doping requiring higher cost. The product developed in this study was verified to be applicable to mortar production.
