Abstract As the concerns about the issues such as global warming, damage to ecosystems and the inequalities between countries are increased, 'Sustainability' has become an important issue for both governments and companies. In this circumstance, it is necessary to study on sustainability of the domestic construction industry which is interrelated with most industries and affects national economy and employment. Social dimensions in SAM DJSI's criteria are used to analyze the construction industry in sustainability perspectives, but to adapt precisely to the construction industry, the social dimensions are transformed into the following: demand and supply of labor force, specialists, safety, ethical management and sustainability reports. As a result, social realm in construction is largely fragile and urgent to improve the value of social realm. So, this study recommends that the construction industry in Korea should consider specialists, safety, sustainability reports and relationship with stakeholders as essential sustainability elements.
