Abstract |
As historical cities becomes valued in contemporary society and the issue of their value becomes a crucial social issue, there is a need to research into the intrinsic value (problem) and sociality of historical cities. Therefore, in the urban political approaches this study aims to propose comprehensive methodology for the valuation by combining the three layers of value such as the value of a historical city, the value of the characteristic of historical environment, and the value according to the establishment of cognitive factors in order to discuss the value of a historical city. From the perspective of an urban space, the study looked into the characteristics of a historical city through a diagram of the space practice based on the theory of 'production of space' by Lefebvre and Harvey, the representative theorists of urban space politics, and confirmed the possibility of the valuation. In addition, the study examined interrelationship focused on factors (form, (public) space, technology, organization, material, constructional method, structure, decoration, (constitution) principle, etc.) for the analysis of the characteristic of historical environment, and thus, theoretically proposes the possibility of the valuation of a historical city in relation to the factors of valuation in the urban spatial aspects. It also proposes comprehensive and rational methodology of valuation through the deduction of cognitive factors concerning a historical city. The study revealed that it is possible to establish a valuation method of historical city that incorporate the diversified and multilateral modern society by combining the aforementioned methodology of three layers, and to verify the validity of the valuation through the practical analysis of a historical city. |
