Abstract |
Children in kindergartens come to get continuous stimuli by physical facilities and environment, because learning behaviors are conducted by children through the direct and concrete experiences. Physical environment of kindergartens need to be considered with the great care. Children should be required exceptional cares in planning spaces of kindergartens, because they are not able to improve the environments by thmeselves. Therefore, it needs to understand how children use their environment for the first time before planning the facilities, and a decision should be made for what kinds of environment they need. This study examines the characteristics of spatial usages of children by close observation at the field and analysis of behaviors and needs of children in a learing class in kindergarten. As aligning learning spaces in kindergarten by domains, The place where learning behaviors are actually conducted is turned out to be used periodically and repeatedly, and some specific places are shown low frequencies of spatial usages. Therefore, it needs to consider the characteristics of spatial usages of children with the procedures and contents of learning, and partitions should be placed among domains in composing learning spaces appropriately. |
