Abstract The purpose of this study is to propose the method of public facilities design for the community revitalization. This study divides design process into programming, planning and design step. And this study extracts revitalization models, performance requirements, and design concepts through the examination on community planning and good cases of public facilities, and case study. And then this study takes the study method that corresponds design goal and revitalization models to the programming step, the performance requirements to the planning step, and the design concepts to design step. This study style expresses the recognition that has to attaches importance to design process and management program for community revitalization. The revitalization models proposed in this study are as follows; Barcelona Model, Bilbao Effect Model, Tate modern Model, TND Model, and Setagaya Model. The performance requirements are as follows; Autonomy, Multi-use, Access, Symbol, Regionalisation and Esteem. The design concepts are as follows; Architecture of relation to public space, Space composition stimulating human contacts, Space composition opened to community, Flexible space, Iconic landmark form, Form and space of regional image, and Regional materials and colors. Using the Models, Performance requirements and Design concepts, this study proposes the method of public facilities design that has relation to design step and design characteristic. Finally, this study makes a suggestion that reuse of community stock, community participation, and design reflecting regional context and values of community should be done in our country.
