Abstract In a construction project using BIM, it improves the efficiency of information transmission inside the total life-cycle of the project. Also, the BIM based 4D simulation links the 3D model and the construction process showing the construction process by-time, which eventually improves the efficiency of the construction project management. However, the present BIM based 4D simulation cannot efficiently transfer and link the information between the construction management tools. This is because the present construction management tool that supports 4D simulation lacks ability related to the construction process management and also because it is difficult to link the model and construction process information that appears in each different forms. This kind of system leads to wasting resources that is needless in linking model-schedule for the 4D simulation, and also becomes just a one-time use for visualization of the construction process. This study aims to develop the prototype of an integrated model-schedule system that enables the sharing of object information of 3D model between construction management tools for the substantial use of BIM, and also embody the 4D simulation.
