| Abstract |
Traditional villages in Korea have been very much conscious about the surrounding natural condition of mountains and streams. It is because the natural condition of surrounding environment was believed to represent the energy condition which critically affect the life of people living in the village. This paper attempts to identify the nature and types of surrounding environment through the filed investigation of the 60 villages in Korea. 6 types of mountain flow, and 4 types of water flow, as well as the types of the combination of mountain-water flow could be identified. Past research on the surrounding natural condition of each villages, or verbal and literary descriptions on them. This research could help in providing general picture of overall trend of surrounding mountain-water condition in Korean villages. |
