Abstract |
The electric arc furnace slag generated by the steel industry has CaO and SiO2, as main ingredients, that are matched to general rocks and minerals and present alkalinity like the portland cement. However, it is utilized only in the low value-added products, such as landfill and road construction, due to the volume expansion caused by f-CaO and f-MgO. Recently, researches on the practical application of electric arc furnace oxidizing slag for structural members have been in process. The purpose of this study is to estimate the flexural capacity of reinforced concrete (RC) beams with electric arc furnace oxidizing slag aggregates. All of four RC beams with various types of aggregates was cast, instrumented, and tested, and their flexural behavior was investigated. As a result of test, the RC beams with electric arc furnace oxidizing slag aggregates present adequate flexural capacity more than those having natural aggregates. |
