Abstract |
In this study the progressive collapse behaviors of titled buildings were evaluated by nonlinear static analyses. For tilted structures, 6-story structures with columns inclined 5, 10, and 15 degrees were designed as 2 dimensional analysis models, and 30-story tilted structures with inclination of 10 and 15 degrees were designed as 3 dimensional analysis models, and their behaviors were compared with those of regular model structures. According to the analysis results, the progressive collapse potential of the tilted structure increased significantly when columns located in the tilted direction were removed. It was also observed that in the regular structure the plastic hinges formed only in the bays from which a column was removed, whereas in the tilted structures the plastic hinges also formed in the nearby bays due to p-delta effect. |
