Abstract A steel structure construction system requires a significant amount of skilled labor and its erection is very dangerous. In order to resolve these problems, many automated construction devices and systems have been developed. However, these devices and systems are seldom used in construction works in Korea. One of the reasons for this situation is due to the insufficient economic analysis carried out by researchers when they are being developed. In this study, a model is proposed for analyzing the performance standards of an Robot based Automated Construction System(RCA) for economic feasibility. In addition, the development of the model is adapted to analyze the performance needs of the RCA. The prediction of the working time of the bolting robot for the case study showed that total working times were shorter than normal times when automation cost was the same or less than the normal cost. Through a sensitive analysis, the case that adapts the highest rental fee for the bolting robot and the Construction Factory(CF) brought an economic advantage. This proposed model could contribute to the effective application of the practical use of RCA.
