| Abstract |
The purpose of this study is to understand the composition and installation of movable objects such as PanJang(板障,partition), HwiJang(揮帳,curtain) and HongSal(紅箭,red gate with arrow-shaped decoration) which are described on DongGwolDo(東闕圖) painting of early 19th century. The main questions are where those objects were, why they were necessary at each place and how to use them. It needs the analysis about persons who lived or worked in the palace and events that happened during King SunJo's period. As a result, it is found that they were located in the central part of ChangDuk-Gung and ChangKyung-Gung palaces where the important persons such as King, Queen or Prince lived and it is because those kinds of pavilions had to be multipurpose place for variable ceremonies and their everyday lives also. The details of these movable objects like colors and decorations were usually used for distinction of the authority of each Royal family member. We can present how PanJang, HwiJang and HongSal were constructively utilized and played vital roles as spatial tools and symbols. |
