Abstract |
In structural systems, it is a very important issue to predict damage levels of structural components from lateral loads. To appreciate ultimate behaviors and fracture mechanisms of structural steels under lateral loads, it is essential to comprehend damage level quantitatively. Thus, simple damage models need to predict effectively behaviors of structural components for random lateral loads. This study proposes a simplified uni-axial hysteretic damage model which is applicable to both pure axial stress and pure shear stress. To confirm the validity of the model, experimental tests are performed under both the pure axial and pure shear loading. The results from the tests are compared with those of the proposed hysteretic model with damage effect. |
