Abstract The purpose of this work is the construction of spatial interrelationship among different functions in high-rise mixed use complex by analyzing the mode of spatial linkage. Three particular high-rise mixed use complexes in Seoul were selected for this study. The spatial interrelationship was carefully examined through the analysis of paths from streets to each facilities in different functions based on the spatial organization system. From this analysis the types of leakage system and nodes were identified coupled with the steps of linkages leading to each function from entry to exit. The result showed that the cluster-type mixed-use complex had more sophisticated spatial linkage systems than the single high-rise complex. It also found that the spatial depth of specific facilities in a complex were different by the function of the area; for instance office and accommodation were located only in the deepest areas in complexes, while the commercial and the commons were found in almost all spatial steps in linkage systems. Finally the study found that the degree of control at the boundaries between different functions varied in terms of the public attribute.
