Abstract This paper presents empirical comparison of nodal network ventilation simulation with experiments. Experiments of four ventilation strategies in terms of ventilation type (hybrid vs. total heat exchanger), outdoor airflow rate and air inlet location (bedroom1, bedroom1+living room, bedroom1+living room+bedroom2) were conducted. For ventilation simulation, CONTAMW 2.4 is chosen and then simulation results were compared with the measured CO2 concentrations for each case of four ventilation strategies. In addition, a sensitivity analysis was performed to quantitatively investigate output variation influenced by 'uncertain' simulation input parameters. It is shown that simulation outputs of ERV (Energy Recovery Ventilator) ventilation are surprisingly accurate, but for the case of hybrid ventilation, it should be kept in mind that uncertain input parameters may lead to wrong prediction.
