Abstract |
Recently, it seems to be considerable for PBD through the fire in WTC (USA, 2001) and Windsor tower (Spain, 2005) and the increase of the super high structures and the huge spatial structures. But, it is impossible to evaluate the fireproof performance of large structures with columns, slabs, and walls such as the modular buildings because there are the limitations in sizes of the structure and conditions of the furnace under the existing criteria for the fireproof performance such as ISO 834, BS 476, and KS F 2257. This study used the large scale calorie meter (10 MW) in Korea Institute of Construction Technology to conduct the large scale fire test for a modular block by the fake fire with the standard woods. The fire load of the first stage was the fixed fire load (ave. 5.76 kg/m2) and the loading fire load(ave.8.32 kg/m2), which are researched 9 hospitals in Seoul. The total load was 417 kN considering the dead load (279.7 kN) and the live load (136.9 kN) for a medical modular building of four stories. The flashover of the medical modular block occurred at 62 minutes after the ignition. The structure stably resisted on the fire during 90 minutes. |
