Abstract |
This study is to search for a fringe of solutions to the problem of homogeneity of multi-family housing in Korea by tracing process of design competitions of Korea National Housing Corporation(KNHC). Four projects from international and domestic competitions are selected and compared in terms of the correspondence of the competition guidelines with the design proposals and the jurors' reviews. As a result, some findings are highlighted and several suggestions are offered in conclusion as follows. Firstly, the legislation system should be reformed in the direction of expanding the role of clients and architects for the variety in the design of multi-family housing. Secondly, feasibility study should be melted into the provisions of the design guidelines. Lastly, the simulation of building envelope including skyline should be carried out before the guidelines are written. |
