Abstract |
As society has been being experienced transition to knowledge-information society, the accessibility to knowledge-information in daily life has been become important. At the same time, the role of libraries had been become very important. Reflecting this social trend, government has established "Library Development Comprehensive Plan" to accomplish the progress of public libraries. For this accomplishment, it is fundamental factor such as facility quality, operation structure and human resources. Furthermore, it is important factor such as accessibility and surroundings. Since location of public libraries is determined according to the convenience of site acquisition, public libraries are isolated and have inaccessibility. The purpose of this study is to examine which locational element affects the vitality of public libraries considering precedent research suggesting people visit public libraries for multi-purpose. In our analysis, it was found that facility area, one-time optional cultural event, population density, subway accessibility, connectivity to large-scale commercial, regional center location affect positive effect on the number of visitors to public libraries. |
