Abstract |
In space syntax, spatial configuration is mathematically calculated, analyzed, and quantified by using the depth of the J-graph that consisted of nodes and edges. This presumes that all edges are accessible by both directions. However, one-way pass and direction seems common in real architecture and city environment. Space syntax cannot produce accurate analysis results in spatial configurations containing a one-way pass, because it assumes all edges are two-way pass. In this study, new space syntax that contains a one-way pass is presented as the solution for the limitation found in space syntax. The applicableness and the effectiveness of a one-way space syntax will be demonstrated by applying it to the analysis of a spatial configuration of a museum containing an enforced circulation. |
