Abstract Despite the fact that the High-Rise Mixed Use Complex has the possibilities for solving the urban deterioration by pushing the limitation of land use in urban area, the large-scale urban development with an inevitable huge artificial environment may cause the destruction of natural eco-system and the discontinuance of existing urban context. In this regard, this paper tried to suggest the practical strategies of highly-integrated mixed use facility by examine the 'landscape urbanism' as a new methodology that has brought a change of approach to urban development. The study found the four categories of strategic approach in landscape urbanism such as 'process', 'city as an open system', 'technique', and 'ecological structure'. In the line with these categories, the study suggested the following practical design strategies; pursuit for flexibility and indeterminacy of urban culture-scape, horizontal surface strategy, emphasis on mobility, realization of history-cultural context, emphasis on hetero-territory, ecological system, pursuit for dynamic landscape, and landscape-ecological approach.
