Abstract |
A Double window system has merits such as reducing heating and cooling energy in residential building. In this paper, potential of cooling energy reduction of the double window system was investigated by mock-up test. Cooling load in each test cell was calculated based on indoor air temperature. Cooling load reduction potential by comfort ventilation was estimated by analyzing outdoor temperature pattern. The results of the study are as follow. a. A Double window system without shading system reduces indoor temperature about 3℃. b. A Double window system with shading device can reduce cooling load by 32%. c. Indoor temperature increase in a double window testing cell during night time lessens the cooling load reduction effect. d. Outdoor temperature during night time is sufficiently low to perform comfort ventilation. e. Cooling load reduction potential of a double window system is estimated about 61% comparing to a single window system. |
