Abstract |
A double angle connection is commonly considered as a simple shear connection because of its low moment resisting capacity for vertical loads. However, when the double angle connection is under axial tensile loads, structural designers should pay much attention in designing the connection to have enough axial tensile stiffness and axial tensile load resisting capacity. The design load of a double angle connection can be calculated by applying the plastic hinge line method. However, this method has a disadvantage in the prediction of the corresponding displacement of the design load. Therefore, this study was conducted to suggest analytical models such as the ultimate plastic displacement model and the ultimate load model. The application of these analytical models was verified by comparing the results obtained from the experimental tests. |
