| Abstract |
Recently, many redevelopment projects are increased on surrounding areas of universities, in existing urban area. These projects have brought the large-scale demolition of existing student housing and the shortage of housing supply. Thus, the purpose of this study is to analyze types of student housing and investigate merits and demerits of these types around the university campus in existing urban area. In this respect, this study has investigated the surrounding areas of Chung-Ang University which are belonging to Heuk-Seok New Town area. We conducted on-the-spot whole survey, interview with all concerned students, and questionaire survey. With these process, types of existing student housing were indentified and five issues were raised: first, the housing cost is the most important element to supply student housing. The majority of students prefer lower priced housing than existing housing. Therefore the measures to supply sffordable student housing should be frawn. Second, the room size doesn't need to be large. 9㎡ is enough for a room. Because student want to live in private environment, It is not desirable that 2 or more students inhabit in one room. Third, bustling surrounding areas are better location than far and quiet residential areas. Finally, we need to keep in mind that students prefer to use an exclusive use of a separate bathroom from other students. |
