Abstract Recently, reducing emissions is one of the hot issues of the world because of the sustainable development. Hwang-toh and blast furnace slag are one of the pozzolanic materials, so they can be replace the cement that is principal constituent of emissions in concrete. The purpose of this study is to examine the bond performance of re-bar and eco-friendly concrete mixed with hwang-toh and blast furnace slag. Main variables of this experimental study were the diameter of re-bar and the mix proportions of concrete according to replacement level of hwang-toh and blast furnace slag. The results showed that hwang-toh and blast furnace slag concrete represent the similar bond performance compared with normal concrete in the viewpoint of bond stress, bond stiffness and failure aspect. But when concrete is mixed with Hwang-toh and Blast furnace slag up to 50%, the mechanical properties of concrete and bond performance is remarkably decreased.
