Abstract |
The Purpose of this study is to analyze the factors of CPTED in multi-family housings based on the psychological/behavioral factors and fear of crime in outdoor space. The questionnaire survey and the observation survey on the CPTED design method, spatial use, the rate of residents' satisfaction, fear of crime and needs for crime prevention in outdoor space were conducted in the 7 multi-family housings in Seoul. The results of these survey were analyzed statistically by SPSS program, and compared with the analyisis of observation survey. The result of the analysis suggests; 1) There is quiet strong corelation between psychological, behavioral factors (the rate of spatial use, neighborhood relationship and residents' satisfaction in outdoor space) and fear of crime. 2) the recent plan of multi-housings themselves include several CPTED design methods and the residents in those housings expect that adopting CPTED design methods is helpful for decreasing crime and fear of crime in outdoor space. 3) In adopting CPTED methods in planning housings, other values that residents are care of, such as privacy, must be considered at the same time. |
