Abstract In general, polymer cement slurry(PCS) that is made from organic polymer dispersion and cement has good adhesion to steel and cement concrete, waterproofness and acid resistance due to being of polymer films formed in cement slurry. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the adhesion and impact properties of PCS-coated steel plate and deformed bar. The test pieces are prepared with four types of polymer dispersion such as St/BA, EVA, SBR and PA, six types of cement, two types of admixture, various polymer-binder ratios, and water-binder ratio, and tested for the adhesion and impact to steel plate, bending properties, and weather proofness. From the test results, the adhesion of PCS-coated steel plate with St/BA and EVA is better than that with SBR and PA. In general, it is also high adhesion when the polymer-binder ratios are at 80% or more. PCS made by ordinary cement and EVA with polymer-binder ratio 80% has a best adhesion to steel plate and deformed bar in the various cement types. The difference of impact property of PCS is not recognized according to polymer type and cement type, but it is a little better than that of epoxy resin. It is apparent that the choice of polymer type, cement type and polymer-binder ratio is important to improve the adhesion to steel plate and deformed bar. It can be recommend for PCS optimum mix proportions from this study.
