The Boarding High School is an educational government policy executed as one of the projects - "making more diverse and better schools" - since 2008. With constructing the dormitory facilities in the high schools in the rural district, it aims to provide students the excellent educational environment, save the private educational cost and bring up the talented students. This study aims to propose a Dormitory Design Guidelines(DDG) which serves to provide a better understanding for of the many issues involved in the boarding high school policies. The intent of this guide is to present the basic criteria to plan, program, design, and construct the high school dormitories. To develop it to be utilized on all the boarding high schools, this study analyzes, assesses and prioritizes the dormitory facilities of the existing high schools, and execute the surveys the user opinions and preferences. This guide categorizes the dormitory facilities into bedroom, educational service, dwelling service and management space. It provides the detail guidelines to understand the function of the dormitory rooms, to derive professional commitments from users, planners, programmers and to help designers achieve complete and usable facilities. To be a successful DHS dormitory facility, it has to satisfy the after-school programs and should be durable, easily maintained, incorporated with applicable force protection measures, and presents an ideal image of the rural boarding school. |
