Abstract High-density residential development was caused by the expansionist from 1970s~1990s. the construction of the new town planning and economic development was target of nation. due to this development, the ratio of residential apartments went over 50percent in 2005. And lately Seoul city has preferred the construction of tower-type apartment to the design of plate-type apartment. In this situation, the number of tower-type apartments has increased rapidly. But tower-type apartments have different performance and efficiency comparing to tower-type apartment. This study focused on the lighting efficiency in tower-type apartments with below reasons. A type of plan figure is tending to change plate-type Block to tower-type Block. Because tower-type Block has better openness and townscape than plate-type Block. However tower-type Block has its own shade because of its figure, so it occurs many problem. So this study analyzed the differences of the Indoor Daylight Illuminance between plate-type Block and tower-type Block by comparing two types of plan figure. The comparative sample was chose the general 一-shape plate-type Block and the L-shape tower-type Block which has the best sunshine among its types.
