Abstract |
This paper verifies evaluation of the structural behavior of reinforced concrete columns strengthened with high-strength steel bars by performing an experimental study of 15 large-scale columns confined by high-strength transverse reinforcement. The main variables are the type of cross section (square, circle), the yield strengths, configurations, volumetric of transverse reinforcement, and axial load ratio. The results show that the behavior of columns is more affected by the type of cross section or axial load ratio than by the yield strength or configuration of transverse reinforcement. By increasing the volumetric of transverse reinforcement, the behavior of columns acts more stable. Also by increasing the yield strength of transverse reinforcement, it is supposed that the effect of decreasing the volumetric of transverse reinforcement. Consequently, design of columns will be considered both the yield strengths and volumetric of transverse reinforcement. |
