Abstract |
This study is to examine sustainable environment control methods from the view of application of passive energy system as well as artificial active energy use in atrium spaces. The representative sustainable environmental property in a typical atrium is energy load saving due to the application of passive energy system, but the stack effect and heat accumulation on upper floors during summer could be considered a problem. Data analysis from atrium case studies show that general environment control methods using passive energy relied heavily on the induction of natural lighting through the top-light and natural ventilation system using the stack effect, while cutting off the direct light using window shading equipment. |
