Abstract |
The purpose of this study is to examine an indigenously architectural prototype of the fort palace in India. The approach method for investigating a prototype is focused in the middle of Orchha and Datiya, because of distinctively appearing common courtyard buildings in them through 1 century, 16c-17c. The important examples of fort palace in two regions are composed to four palaces; Ramji, Raj, Jahangir and Govind mandir. These palaces show relatively that previously architectural features affected to spatial organizations of next building. Furthermore, the relation of each building definitely indicates developed situations about detail ornaments and architectural organization. First building, Ramji mandir, maybe shows a basic form of courtyard to other examples. Raj madir make a wholly architectural formation about the path of flow in a characteristic of courtyard. Jahangir appears matured expressions of detail parts and ornament sections through progressively using of red sandstone with previous features. As a result, Govind mandir is not only composed with excellent advantages of three buildings, but also a tower like sikhara in center of courtyard. The various spaces made by the tower manifest an accomplishment of Bundela territory. This will be an important source to learn regional architecture of Bundela rajpute clan and make a base of prospectively comparative studies with other region. |
