Abstract The purpose of this research is to evaluate the distribution of the bond stress between embedded reinforcing bar and charged mortar in mortar-filled sleeve splice. To fulfill the objective of this investigation, we analyzed the distribution of the bond stress between bar and mortar in mortar-filled sleeve splice, using the previous test results of 11 actual-size specimens with strain gauges attached on the embedded reinforcing bar in the splice. The followings were found: 1) Hayashi's equation predicted the distributions of bond stress such as the amount of bond stress and the region length in pre-yield regions and post-yield regions of rebar as well as the total amount of bond strength with a great error. 2) The equation which estimates the distributions of bond stress between embedded reinforcing bar and charged mortar was proposed by examining the previous test results and modifying the existing equation.
